Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We have two locations in beautiful Humboldt County: Fortuna and Arcata.
How do I apply for services?
Please submit the application forms via email (howdy@wildsoulsranch.org) or mail to 2870 Nelson Ln, Fortuna, CA 95540. You’ll find the Youth General Sessions application HERE and the Adult General Sessions application HERE. Wraparound applicants must be referred from their county of adoption, and RCRC referrals must be initiated by an RCRC service provider.
How much do your services cost?
Once we have determined how you qualify for our services, we will place you in the appropriate program. We offer scholarships and a sliding scale that are designed to work with each individual’s needs, making our services accessible to you.
Do you have a waitlist for services?
We do currently have a waitlist, but please don’t let this deter you from applying. We triage cases and our waitlist is arranged as such. We are happy to connect you to other community resources if we cannot accommodate your needs. Please complete the inquiry form and we’ll help determine the best fit for your individual needs.
How can i help?
Community support directly allows us to give our participants the opportunity to continue their healing journey with horses. Your support contributes to scholarships, equine care, and updating our facilities. Please click HERE to learn more about donating.
Wild Souls Ranch puts on various raffle and auction fundraisers each year to raise funds for our program. If your company is interested in donating goods or services to a future event, please reach out to us via email at howdy@wildsoulsranch.org
Can I stop by to visit and tour the ranch some time?
To respect the privacy and confidentiality of our participants, we ask that you email howdy@wildsoulsranch.org to schedule a tour.
Do you offer horseback riding lessons?
We offer riding lessons only through the Redwood Coast Regional Center. Our experienced and compassionate instructors provide individualized attention and adapt lessons to meet the unique needs and abilities of each participant.
Do you accept insurance?
Currently, we do not accept insurance. We offer scholarships and a sliding pay scale to work with a variety of budgets. If you would like to be put on a waitlist to be contacted once we do accept insurance, please email howdy@wildsoulsranch.org.
Do you have a volunteer program?
Yes! Please visit our volunteer page to learn more.

Can we come by to pick up manure for our garden?
Please do! Our Fortuna location has a muck pile in the parking lot that is usually full. Feel free to come by any day of the week to collect manure for your garden, no need to alert us. Please note that aside from the parking lot, we are a closed facility and the rest of the property is closed to the public due to client privacy requirements. Thank you!
